Dear Learn & Perform Subscriber

Welcome to the 2014 July E-News! I was curious to read Hard Choices by Hilary Clinton. Easy to read, the book is peppered with real life incidents that makes it very interesting.

And, in this E-News, let me cover:

  • Let us GROW Talent

  • Qualifications for Human Resources (HR) Professionals

    Let us GROW Talent

The Power of growing Talent instead of buying it cannot be under estimated. The latest issue of Workforce emphasises the importance of developing talent pipelines. "Workforce management" is about making sure the right talent is available at the right time and monitoring its deployment and subsequent performance. But a critical thing that we all forget is the impact learning has on workforce management strategy?

Kris Dunn, founder of the "HR Capitalist" and "Fistful of Talent" blogs, explores the countless ways to use learning opportunities to strengthen approaches to workforce management, including:

    • A before and after snapshot for HR leaders to use when pitching the opportunity to strengthen their focus on learning strategy and training and development as part of workforce management.

    • A primer on optimising productivity through learning. Most companies that have training plans are focused on new hires, but in today's world, learning is a continuous process.

    • A road map for how to operationalise your learning strategy and link it to changing business needs.

This is an opportunity to be strategic when it comes to the learning strategy within workforce management. There may be many pressures (globalisation, reorganisation, product line/ vertical expansion, competition) that cause changes in business and therefore the need to be able to adapt quickly by getting up to speed on new or regulated skills or identifying employee need for those required skills is critical. Qualifications for Human Resources (HR) Professionals
Human Resources (HR) Professionals are increasingly becoming highly valued and gaining a seat on the Board. There is a huge need for highly skilled and competent HR staff. In an effort to ensure that this objective is met, TalentCorp and SMR Group are partnering with the Charted Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) UK to offer this highly in demand Programme – Certificate in Human Resource Practice (CHRP). The Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development is the world’s largest professional body for HR practitioners. TalentCorp is Malaysia’s agency tasked by the Government to upskill the nation’s talent. SMR Group has been running CIPD qualifications since 1984 and has run several similar programmes. This is a great opportunity for those seeking a credible HR qualification. TalentCorp is subsidising 50% of the fees and the remaining fees can be claimed from the Human Resources Development Fund.
